When twenty-something Kate first appeared at the military base, many thought she wouldn’t last long there.

She was one of the top graduates of the military academy: she shot with great accuracy, made decisions quickly, and was never afraid to take on responsibilities. However, this very soon caused several of her classmates to turn against her.

She was specifically rejected by three soldiers from her unit.

For several years they had been the unofficial leaders of the unit. The recruits avoided arguing with them, and some officers preferred to turn a blind eye to their behavior.

Everything changed two months after Kate’s arrival.

During a night watch, the young woman accidentally noticed how those soldiers were taking military equipment out of the warehouse and selling it through a known intermediary.

At first I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

Kate gathered evidence over several days and then handed the information over to command.

The inspection confirmed his words.

As a result, one of the sergeants received a sanction, two soldiers were deprived of their bonuses, and others were sent to the hardest jobs.

From that day on, the hatred towards the young woman only increased.

They called her a “snitch”, tried to set traps for her at every opportunity, and constantly sought revenge.

However, they couldn’t do anything openly.

A few weeks later, the unit was sent to exercises in a mountainous area.

Several groups were scheduled to land near a remote training base.

That was precisely the direction the military helicopter was heading that day.

The weather was good.

Below lay mountains, forests, and a huge lake nestled among the rocks.

The soldiers were sitting on either side of the helicopter preparing for the landing.

Kate was near the open door.

One of his detractors kept looking at his friends.

Their faces showed they were planning something.

At one point, the soldier approached and smiled contemptuously.

“Well, hero, do you like the service?” he asked mockingly.

Kate did not respond.

Then the second soldier roughly pushed her on the shoulder.

The girl lost her balance and almost fell out. She managed to grab onto the metal handrail next to the door.

“What are you doing?! I don’t have a parachute!” he shouted.

The helicopter kept moving forward.

The wind was literally trying to rip it out.

Instead of helping her, the men started laughing.

“Don’t worry, nothing’s going to happen to you,” one of them said.

Kate was desperately trying to climb back up.

Her fingers were starting to slip off the handrail.

Then one of the soldiers stepped forward and kicked his hand again.

The blow struck her arm directly. The girl couldn’t resist. Her hand slipped from the metal.

For a second she was suspended in the air, then she plummeted down. Her scream was lost in the noise of the propellers.

The soldiers looked down and started laughing. Without any remorse. Someone even said that now no one would ever report them again.

The fall was terrible.

Kate fell straight down to the surface of a huge mountain lake.

The impact with the water was so strong that he lost consciousness for several seconds.

He suffered multiple contusions, a dislocated shoulder, and several fractures.

But, by some miracle, she was still alive.

She was found by fishermen who were on the other side of the lake.

They called the rescue services.

A few hours later, Kate was already in the hospital.

When the young woman regained consciousness, she recounted everything that had happened to the investigators in detail.

At first, his colleagues denied his guilt.

They claimed that the recruit had simply slipped near the helicopter door.

However, the investigation quickly revealed another version.

There were surveillance cameras on board.

 

In addition, several soldiers from another unit were eyewitnesses to what happened.

Months later, the case went to court.

In the courtroom, the defendants no longer looked so confident.

When the prosecutor showed the helicopter video, it became clear that there was no way to justify himself.

But even then they kept looking for excuses.

One of the accused claimed that nobody wanted to kill the girl.

According to him, they knew there was a lake underneath.

Another soldier said it was just an unfortunate joke.

The third person claimed that he didn’t even think about the consequences.

However, the judge reminded them of something simple.

A person without a parachute should not be thrown out of a helicopter in flight, regardless of whether there is water below or not.

Any reasonable person understands that such a fall can result in death.

In the end, the three were found guilty of attempted murder of a fellow officer and abuse of power.

They received actual prison sentences.

When they were taken out of the courtroom, none of them were smiling anymore.

And Kate, a year later, returned to service.
