He was a prisoner named Marcus.
Before his arrest, he had worked for many years for a large criminal organization and, even behind bars, he still wielded enormous influence.
Marcus was the one who decided who fought, what bets were accepted, and who was allowed into the yard.
On a Friday, a new inmate was temporarily transferred to the prison.

That was exactly what Kate was hoping for.
