The prisoners in a jail cruelly mocked the new guard for her short stature, but none of them could even imagine who that woman really was or what she was capable of…
Before the new guards arrived at the prison, rumors were already circulating among the inmates that the administration would send someone new to one of the toughest modules.
Some said he was an ex-military man, others were sure that a huge man would arrive and quickly restore order.
That’s why, that morning, when the heavy metal door opened and a small woman in a black uniform entered, the entire corridor literally fell silent.
She was very short. She measured barely one hundred and thirty-five centimeters due to a rare genetic condition.
There was silence for a few seconds. And then someone let out a low laugh.
In an instant, almost the entire block was laughing.
—What is this, a new kindergarten teacher?
—Careful, don’t step on it.
The woman didn’t even turn her head.
He calmly reviewed the log, looked at the security cameras, and said in a firm voice:
—Get up. There will be a camera inspection in five minutes.
Her voice was calm, but firm.
However, the prisoners continued to mock them.
When he passed by the gates, some people deliberately crouched down to be at his level.
Others whistled at him as he passed by.
—Hey, short lady, can you even reach the top shelf?
—You probably have children’s furniture at home, right?
—Or do you live in a dollhouse?
—No, he probably escaped from a hobbit movie.
The hallway was constantly filled with laughter.
Some stretched their arms down and waved them in front of her face. But the woman never responded. She simply did her job.
He checked the cameras, accompanied the prisoners, wrote reports, and spoke to everyone with the same calmness.
That’s why the taunts only intensified.
The inmates decided he was afraid.
That the administration had put someone incapable of doing anything in charge. Especially one of the older prisoners thought so. Tall, covered in tattoos, he was respected by the others and used to everyone fearing him.
Every time the woman passed by, he would crack another joke out loud.
One day, during a walk to the playground, he deliberately left the line and slowly approached her almost up to her.
The other prisoners stopped immediately. They all understood that there was going to be a show.
The man looked down at her and smiled.
—Hey, little dwarf, who gave you the right to order us around? Your hands are shorter than my fingers.
The woman looked him straight in the eyes calmly.
—Go back to the line.
The prisoner laughed even louder.
—Or what are you going to do to me?
She did not answer.
—Or do you mean I’m going to regret it a lot?
Several people behind him were already doubled over with laughter.
—What are you going to do, hit me? Your hands don’t even reach my face.
He leaned even further in.
—Come on, at least try to put the handcuffs on me with your fingers.
The whole courtyard erupted in laughter.
Even some of the young guards started looking at each other nervously, not understanding how to stop it.
And the woman continued to stand calmly before the enormous prisoner. But a second later she did something that left the entire prison in complete shock. If you’re interested in what happened next, the continuation of the story can be found in the first comment.
He slowly removed the radio from his belt and passed it to another guard.
Then he took a small step back.
The prisoner laughed again.
—So? Were you scared?
He even opened his arms.
—Come on, show us what you’re capable of.
And in the next second, something unexpected happened.
The woman abruptly twisted her torso and, with a lightning-fast movement, launched a high kick.
His boot struck the prisoner’s face with a dry thud.
The enormous man lost his balance and fell heavily onto the concrete floor.
The courtyard fell into such a profound silence that only the buzzing of the security cameras could be heard.
The prisoner was on the ground, holding his broken nose and not understanding what had happened. The woman calmly adjusted her uniform, looked down at him, and said in a serene voice:
—Well… I really wouldn’t have been able to reach with my hand.
He paused briefly.
—But with the leg, yes. For the future, remember who you’re dealing with.
Nobody was laughing anymore.
A few minutes later, the entire module was discussing something completely different.
It turned out that before working in the prison, that small woman had practiced martial arts for almost fifteen years, had been a multiple national taekwondo champion and for several years worked as an instructor in a special police unit.
After that incident in prison, all the nicknames disappeared. No one called her little dwarf, short lady, or hobbit movie heroine anymore.
As I walked past the cells, the prisoners silently moved away from the bars and returned to their places without saying a word.
